A Great Birthday for a Great Father

Now that summer is here, the mosquitoes are out to feed. Mosquitoes are a huge nuisance and can leave permanent damage if not careful. The TRUE Causes Of Ovarian Cysts

The causes of ovarian cysts need to be properly understood. A failed or disordered ovulation is basically the main reason of the formation of an ovarian cyst. A functional cyst occurs when follicle is unable to release an egg and its growth continues which eventually lead to the formation of a cyst. In other cases a cyst might be formed at the time the follicle does release an egg but the place where it is released is closed. When this happens the corpus luteum does not form and the cyst keeps on growing. Recent research shows that over production of xenoestorgens is one of main causes of the formation of ovarian cysts.

To fully understand what causes an ovarian cyst, you need to have basic knowledge of the functioning of the endocrine glands. The brain's lower portion is the hypothalamus and below this is the pituitary gland. The hypothalamus starts sending pulses of gonadotropin-releasing (GnRH) to the pituitary gland when a woman's estrogen and progesterone levels drop. In turn, the pituitary gland sends the FSH or the follicle-stimulating hormone that targets the ovary, and this is responsible for beginning the ova`s (within the follicle) maturation process. These follicles ultimately discharge the estrogen. Within around ten days, the level of estrogen in a woman`s body goes up by a considerable extent. At this point the hypothalamus enhances the GnRH's production and the pituitary gland also makes the LH or the Luteinizing Hormone. Ovulation is further promoted by the LH and the follicles are turned into corpus luteum, which secretes progesterone (the dominating hormone in the reproductory cycle`s second half). If there is no pregnancy, the corpus luteum becomes degenerated and the estrogen and progesterone levels fall.

Ovaries actually grow as small cysts every month. In some abnormal cases, the follicle continues to grow and results in cyst. Hence it can be easily understood that the cysts actually kicked off as normal in the start of the period then what exactly led to the follicular dysfunction and did not allow the egg to be released? Experts are of the opinion that it is because of the female embryo getting exposed to environmental pollutants and xenobiotics, which fakes the estrogen`s chemical action on the tissue. During the development of the female embryo, six hundred to eight hundred follicles are made, and every one of them remains within the ovum that is not mature. The xenobiotics though apparently don`t affect the mother, however the baby is much more vulnerable and the ovarian follicles get dysfunctional. They are unable to reach their maturity and the progesterone is not secreted in enough numbers. The damage can never be ascertained till the time the child reaches the age of puberty. The holistic system is the best method of treatment to fight the ovarian cyst causes.

The truth of the matter is that we cannot pinpoint any one single cause of ovarian cysts. Praying Hands Calms the Mind

Praying hands (or the clasped hands) is a common prayer gesture or posture among Christians. The clasped hands are usually held before the heart as a symbol of submission, sincerity, repentance and obedience. Some raise their prayer hands as if pleading to God to grant their prayers.

Natahn Ausubel, in his book "Book of Jewish Knowledge said that this prayer gesture is not exclusive to Christians alone. He said the Jews even before the time of Jesus Christ, practiced it: "It has also been commonly assumed that folding the hands in prayer is exclusively a Christian custom. This is not the historical fact at all. As early as the post-Exilic period, when Jews prayed, they folded their hands, and they observed this custom for several centuries even after it had been adopted by Christians."

This being so, Jesus who was a Jew, also prayed with his hands clasped. It is not uncommon to see pictures or images of Him in this prayer gesture. Even the Virgin Mary and angels are often depicted in art with their hands drawn together.

The Hindus and Buddhists draw their palms together at the heart as a sign of veneration and respect. It is also a form of greeting. This is known as the "anjali mudra" which means offering (anjali) and seal (mudra). The people of India when doing this gesture would say the word "Namaste" which is some kind of a sacred hello. "Namaste" means "I bow to the divinity within you from the divinity within me." How beautiful the meaning of that word is!

Pope Benedict XVI in his book "Spirit of the Liturgy" said that the body is an integral part of the act of worship and I quote: "The body has a place within the divine worship of the Word made flesh, and it is expressed liturgically in a certain discipline of the body, in gestures that have developed out of the liturgy's inner demands..." So the body certainly has a place, along with the heart, mind and soul, in prayer.

The Pope further went on to say that during the feudal times, those who swore their allegiance to a ruling lord would place their joined hands into the hands of their lord as a sign of their fidelity and obedience. In a similar vein, we place our hands in the hands of our Lord when we pray with our joined hands and pledge our fidelity and obedience to Him.

Is there a benefit to doing this prayer gesture? In yogic practice, drawing one's hands together is believed to bring the left and right hemispheres of one's brain together. Such a gesture is said to calm the mind.

Personally, I am able to focus on God more when I pray with my hands folded. Try swinging your hands instead and see if you can concentrate. It is just like when I kneel to pray. I acknowledge God's presence with respect. I know a lot of people feel the same way. Praying hands and praying hearts are certainly pleasing to God.

Let us look at what one day on a diabetic eating plan can be like - breakfast can be quite filling and nutritious, if you have half a cup of oatmeal, about two thirds of a cup of apple juice, a slice of bread (but make sure it is wholemeal bread), a cup of skimmed milk, as long as it's not sweetened, and a soft-cooked egg. For lunch, you could have half a cup of tuna, two slices of wholemeal bread, half a cup of diced tomatoes, a teaspoon of margarine for the bread, a cup of mixed fruit for a healthy dessert and a glass of lemon tea to wash it all down with. Dinner, again, can be tasty and filling, with a slice of wholemeal bread, half a cup of mashed potatoes, either a tossed salad or a cup of broccoli and three ounces of baked chicken. You have to be careful about salad dressing, though - don't pick one off the shelf, make a low-fat, no-sugar one with olive oil and seasoning.

Easy steps for acoustic guitar tuning

Whether you are playing a show or just practicing, you should tune your acoustic guitar every time you play. Playing an out of tune guitar is not fun. Beginners can become frustrated with learning because they do not understand the importance of acoustic guitar tuning. The few extra minutes it takes to tune your guitar is always worth it.

It's best to use an electronic tuner for acoustic guitar tuning. Sit down with the electronic tuner on a nearby table or stool. Turn it on and strum the first string. The tuner will sense which string is being tuned using its built in microphone. The indicator will show you how close you are to the correct pitch. It will also show you whether you are sharp or flat. Turn the tuning key and tweak the string until your tuner shows that you're in tune.

Taking your strings from looser to tighter will tune your guitar, also called tuning down. If the string is too tight, you will need to get it in tune by loosening the strings slightly and then tightening it again until it is in tune. Tuning up will give you a more true tone than tuning down.

If you dont purchase an electronic tuner, you still need to have a reference for pitch when playing acoustic guitar. You can use another guitar, a piano, tuning fork or an MP3 that you are certain is already in tune. Acoustic guitar tuning with an electronic tuner will consistently provide reliable tuning. Every year, when my dad's birthday comes around, my family faces the same question: what do we get him for his birthday? I can count on my mom, brother and sister to drop hints, but my dad never helps us out at all with that. We looked through stores and catalogs and just couldn't find anything that seemed right for him, until we heard about this golf tournament that included a chance to play with past PGA pros!

What did we do? We signed him up. He never saw this coming. My father lives for golf. Every day he is out on the green putting. Everyday he is watching it on television. Everyday he is practicing his chipping and working on ?breaking? in his driver. I think it?s an addiction.

The golf tournament rolls around and he and his friends are playing together in it. The tournament is an all day event followed by a dinner and a silent auction. The dinner was excellent; he loved the food and was thanking us. He then proceeded to the silent auction to bid on whatever he set his heart on.

My mother, on the other hand, decided to get her $25 worth by stuffing herself with as much dessert as possible. She wasn't enjoying all of her food choices as much as the dessert table. She grabbed two pieces of cake and a slice of cheesecake, and then headed over to the auction table.

My father placed a bid on quite a few things. He placed a bid on an autographed picture of an athlete. He placed a bid on a couple of shirts, and some other stuff. He then saw a weed whacker that he's been wanting for the property in the south, so he placed a bid. He was more excited than I've ever seen him when his bid remained the highest.

Mom did a little shopping of her own, primarily eyeing the many gift baskets that were available. There were so many, and if the bids stayed where they were, they were incredible values! My dads birthday was extremely important and the Christmas holidays were also fastly approaching. She looked at some wine gift baskets, but finally settled on a basket full of a gourmet meats, that she thought would make a great Christmas and birthday gift for my father.

When the silent auction ended, my mother had won her gift baskets. She was very excited. Then it was time for the live auction. The first item up for bid? The string trimmer my dad wanted! Unfortunately, he didn't win, but his disappointment didn't last long. He had been having such a great time. Something like a simple auction item wasn't going to bring him down! It was a great day, and I know it's a birthday gift he'll always appreciate.
