Online Games - 80s, 90s and Today

With the growth of the World Wide Web, there has been a surge in one section of the Internet industry. That is the section of online games. There are thousands of sites dotted over the Internet. These games now have networks all over and there are people at work who have their own networks! These online games are used by some as a stress relieving tool in a fun and relaxed manner.

These days, it is very easy to download the free online games on your computer. The free games allow people to interact with friends and family near and far as the games are played on a network. The games could be simple like text based games to far more complex games like role playing games which offer challenges like complex storylines and graphics in virtual environments. These online games can accessed by many players together which makes it very interesting. Communities are created and players from within the community play with/against one another. They are able to send messages to one another to give tips on how to complete a particular level. This is a pleasant social activity for some people.

In the 80s,popular online games like scrabble, chess and cluedo were easily available but they were charges associated with playing the games. They were not free. The charges were pretty high as well. The 90s, revolutionised game playing forever. Most games became free and there was a complete makeover of the games. More games were added in different categories. There was strong emphasis to give a modern look to the games. Complex designs and sound were being added. Storylines were being added and that gave a reason for people to start playing together. Online matches became popular.

During this period of revolution, it also saw the rise of this new player generation who were more skilled and apt at handling complex games. These players were also able to handle devices and were far more Internet savvy. There were able to handle just about any type of computer game thrown at them. That is when the entertainment media on the Internet really grow by many fold. Companies were pouring in money and developing more games and it was becoming a very popular business venture. Some of these sites were now pay sites to play the games but the graphics and games were excellent. These sites also made lots of money from site sponsors as well.

Online games are an excellent way to escape the "real" world for a while and enter the virtual domain. In addition to providing entertainment, these games help us to be mentally strong. These games are liked by people of different ages, especially as they could be played in the comfort of their homes. The games are quite thrilling as they provide incredible features as well as a user friendly ambiance.These games also build team efforts and team spirits. A bond of togetherness is developed through these games. To cap it all, these games help one to interact and exchange ideas with others while paying multi-player games.

There are different kinds of online games available on the net, including puzzle games, adventure games and action games along with a host of others. One can jump, shoot, punch, shoot or else do whatever one wants to while playing the games. You can become a yearly member of these games and play endlessly. As you get online, you can find a whole world of online games available to suit your taste.
