The Top 10 NES Games of all Time

By Jon Ferraro

It's pretty hard coming up with the 10 best NES games of all time, but here is mine:

10) Duck Hunt - As far as I?m concerned this is the only game that was worth having the Nintendo Zapper for.

9) Ice Climber - It may not be the deepest game ever developed, but it has grown to a cult like status. It's still as much fun today as it was 20 years ago.

8) Metroid - Incredible atmosphere. The game offered a real challenge that always kept you going and was the beginning of an incredible franchise.

7) Zelda II: The Adventure of Link - This may be a bit controversial. I know the game is not loved by many Zelda fans. But if you give it a chance, you can see tha it's a real gem.

6) Castlevania - It's kind of a toss up to pick which Castlevania was the best. It may not be an easy decision but there is no doubt the original is a classic.

5) Tecmo Bowl - The first game to introduce the real NFl players. This was nothing short of mind blowing in its day. To be able to play as Walter Payton or Jerry Rice was amazing. We take it for granted now, but this is what started it all.

4) Contra - The ultimate code. We all now it by heart and it was the best co-op game of the 1980s. It never got old and still holds up really well today.

3) Super Mario Bros - What hasn't been said about this game? The game might have single handedly saved the home video game console. After Atari bombed, Nintendo needed something like this.

2) The Legend of Zelda - I've actually lost count on how many games were influenced by the original Legend of Zelda. Even with its long and illustrious series, the original still might be the best one, and that's really saying something.

1) Super Mario Bros. 3 - Incredible and innovative gameplay. You could tell where the future of gaming was headed after playing this game.
