Does Affiliate Marketing Work for Real People?

By Joseph Micum

Have you ever looked for ways to make money on the internet? If you do, you'll find a ton of sites that claim you can get rich with affiliate marketing. Is this true, or is it all just an exaggeration?

Unfortunately, most of what you read on the internet about affiliate marketing is pure exaggeration. Income claims are inflated, and initial investment requirements are rarely addressed adequately. This is too bad, because it is possible to make money this way if one takes the time to learn how the internet works.

Knowledge is the real key to becoming a successful internet entrepreneur. Despite so many claims to the contrary, getting rich over night is not a reasonable goal. The reality is that it will take time to develop the skills needed to earn a decent income online.

So how long will it take to start earning some real cash? It will vary for different people, but two or three months is a reasonable expectation.

Does this sound like it's too hard or takes too long? If so, you should probably steer clear of affiliate marketing. If you are in too much of a hurry, you will more than likely lose money buying get rich quick stuff that doesn't work.

However, if you can spend the time it takes to learn some essential skills, you can make a decent income with your computer. It also won't cost you money to learn any so called secret tactics, either. If you can search the web, you can learn everything you need.

How much of an income can real people make from the internet? It all depends on how much time you're willing to spend of course, but there are individuals who are making one hundred thousand dollars or more every year. You should keep in mind though, that most will be lucky if they clear more than ten thousand or so annually.

Most newcomers to affiliate marketing fail because they imagine it to be a magic method of generating cash. Success will only come to those who realize the importance of work and knowledge. Dreams are great, but they won't pay the bills.
