Why Are MP3s The Key To Personal Development?

By Carrie Spry

One thing that helped me practice personal development was my Ipod. I recommend them to anyone who wishes to seriously pursue personal development. Why an Ipod? Well, it's portable, can hold thousands of songs that can be organized by artist, genre, or play lists.

I find the Ipods are very easy to manage and use compared to other makes. I set everything up on my computer, which is easier than with little tiny buttons. I try to set up many different play lists with different themes. For example, I have a weight loss play list, a stop procrastinating play list, and be present play list among others.

I listen to these mp3s whenever I get the chance. Right before bed I use listen to a relaxing type like hypnosis, or something else quiet and that doesn't require a lot of thought or concentration. This helps me relax and fall asleep easily. I usually setup a play list that last only 2-3 mp3s. That way it will just turn itself off when it's done and I don't waste the batteries.

When I purchased my Ipod, I went all out and bought the video Ipod, which was worth the money. I downloaded Oprah's web casts on "A New Earth" and watch them whenever I am in a waiting room or somewhere that I am waiting on something.

Actually, my husband also used it during my last pregnancy. I had put movies on it in preparation for the labor. He watched before and after the labor. It kept him busy and he admitted that it was worth the money since it had so many uses. Also, I try to keep some kind of kid movie on there and it keeps my oldest daughter quiet when she needs to be patient.

Another great time when it was convenient was when I had car trouble and had to wait hours for rescuing in the middle of no where. I was able to watch Oprah and Eckhart chat it up. It could have been a terrible experience, but turned out to be a nice quiet time for mewhich isn't often.

Another time I usually listen to mp3s is my drive to and from work. It helps start my day off right and relaxes me after a long and frustrating day at work. Before my Ipod, I would think about my day, what happened, what's going to happen tomorrow. Even when I went to sleep at night, my mind was consumed with work. I didn't know how to separate myself.

It would take me take me hours to get to sleep. My mind would be racing about work, I would even dream about work. When I woke upit was work, work, workI hated it. There were too many politics and not enough time.

Now, it only takes me about 10 minutes to fall asleep. That's hit the pillow, relax, and sleep. I love it. I don't dream about work anymore and I have a much better sleep. Listening to mp3s before bed has really changed my life.
