Mexico Vacations Offer Wide Variety Of Attractions

With most of Mexico's visitors coming from the United States and Canada, it ranks first in attracting tourists among all other Latin American places. This is due to Mexico's intriguing history as well as its world famous beach resorts with unique scenery.

The oldest inhabitants of the territory of Mexico go back as far as 9,000 years ago. When the Spanish invaded the region, in 1519, the Aztecs and the Mayans were the main indigenous people. They were mostly wiped out but their constructions remain and are a major attraction.

Mexico is now divided into thirty-one states and is a federal constitutional republic that is actually the United Mexican States. Crime is a major concern for the inhabitants which is mostly related to drug and cartel. The homicide rate of inhabitants is about 11 to 14 in 100,000 but the risk to tourists is not high.

Some people are attracted by the tropical and temperate climates of the country as vast mountain ranges create the temperate divides and create such a diversity of weather. For example, you could find snow in Chihuahua while Sonora contains the Altar desert. Mild weather is common in the Valley of Mexico, where most major cities are located.

Cancun and Acapulco have amazing scenery and are the most famous beaches in Mexico. These two beaches attract many tourists. Cancun is a hot spot for American college students who love to come during Spring Break. The coastal location of Acapulco once attracted the celebrities but now attracts everyone.

Big tourist attractions are the monuments, both ancient and old. The ruins of Aztecs and Mayans are situated in the central and southern parts of Mexico. One of the most notable is the Mayan \"The Castle\" of ChichAn-ItzA. It is located in the northern center or the YucatAn Peninsula, YucantAn state.

Mexico is also trying to make it known to the world that is a modern and upcoming country, surrounded with proof in its major cities. Mexico is able to be a boisterous country without ruining its historical heritage. Meso-American attractions and traditions of Mexico are found in Guadalajara and Mexico City. In fact, the most modern city with world famous museums is Monterrey in Nuevo Leon.
