Located on 2 continents, Turkey is a unique country. While the most of it is geographically located in West Asia (also popularly known as the Middle East), a part of Turkey also happens to fall in Europe. Though the official language of the country is Turkish it is a land of many languages like Arabic, Kurdish, Armenian and Greek.

With exception to the tourists coming from United Kingdom (UK), all others coming from Western Europe do not need to carry their visa with them. Though it is not a very practical thing to do but its possible to travel to Turkey by means of a train that leaves from Europe. Those to want to experience the romantic notions made famous and conjured by the movie the Orient Express do take the train ride to Turkey.

The most practical and the fastest way to get to Turkey are by availing the plane. To welcome tourists outside of the airports taxi services are widely available.

Travel by bus around Turkey is a delight in itself. Equipped with a great crew to attend to the needs of the passengers and air-conditioning these buses offer a quality accommodation. In addition to rest stops every couple of hours or so at restaurants they offer drink and food as well.

A warning for those visitors who are planning to drive to this country while on the road should be very cautious. Since their roads are often left in poor condition road accident rates are high in Turkey.

This country has a treasure in natural landscape. To partake in this wonderful outdoors experience tourists can go on hiking trips.

Their diverse wildlife is what makes Turkey so famous. Preserving their ecological equilibrium makes Turkey one of only a few countries in the world that takes an initiative to do so. There are under the government protection many rare species.

Turkey's famous main attractions such as: the ancient City of Troy, Mt. Nemrut, Ayasofya Museum and Topkapi Palace can be visited by those tourists who have an interest in the history of Turkey.

Tourists can take advantage of the numerous ski centers if they plan to go to Turkey that are available during winter. Perfect during the fall and summer season are activities like yachting and rafting.

Derived from Mediterranean and Arabic style, Turkey offers a great cuisine. These cuisines often have dishes offering turkeys staple meat- the lamb. In their dishes a lot of spices are also used. While visiting one should be sure to sample Turkish coffee, which is a very popular drink.

Tourists can schedule their vacation around a total solar eclipse that is predicted on March 29, year 2006 to take place in Turkey and they can experience the phenomenon if they want to.
