Change Lives Using The Responsibility Of Teaching In The Bible

By Kevin Jelbart

If only you had all the answers about content and methods of teaching God's word, instead of some of the doubts that can arise. The responsibility of teaching in the bible is quite a heavy responsibility, given the impact it can have on people. It is not just simply teaching that makes for being a good bible teacher, but rather trying to make sure God's message sinks in.

A great solution to this would be to get God's word out there effectively and such that it creates enthusiasm amongst your group. Effective teaching leads to effective listening which in turn often times leads to lives being changed through the power of God's word.

Lots of assistance is available in the form of study guides, advising on "what to teach", however very few of these guides cover techniques for making people want to listen to what you have to say. Different people have different needs, and therefore a lesson should be designed to match those needs.

People will often hear something different to what you actually said. This leads to the important message you are trying to convey to them getting misinterpreted along the way. It's obviously important, with the responsibility of teaching in the bitble, to teach the best way you know how. The use of specific dialogue - life changing dialogue - will allow you make a connection with more people, which in turn will have a larger impact of the benefit of your teachings on many more people.

What a feeling it would be, to have such confidence that you are sure the techniques you use are so effective and powerful that people's lives are changed as a result. And that these same people keep coming back simply because they want to learn more. To have the knowledge and techniques to make this happen is a powerful thing. Learning is an endless journey, and even you will learn something if you involve your entire class in a group discussion.

Imagine how good it would feel to be able to create excitement amongst your students - so much so that they looked forward to attending your next class. To know you are serving God and doing His work so well that your students want to bring friends with them. Making a difference in people's lives is a very powerful thing to do - especially in a world where many people are having problems, and where some guidance goes a long way. If by changing techniques it impacted even just a couple of extra people's lives - wouldn't it be a change well made?

We live in a precious world of very individual people, and while this lovely - it can make it a little tricky at times to actually get God's message through to all of the people. So why not give a new technique a go? A tried and tested fresh technique which may be the difference between the results you are getting now, and the chance to connect with even more people.

What difference would it make to you to go to sleep each night, knowing you have the responsibility of teaching in the bible, and taking comfort in the knowledge that God knows you have made every effort to reach as many people as possible by being a good bible teacher? Make that a great bible teacher!
