All about Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

By John Broffman

Six Flags is an amusement park given credit for its wild and crazy rides no other theme parks can compare to. So it's undoubtedly a surprise that Six Flags would still find a way to make itself an even bigger attraction by adding a world of wet mania to the mix called Hurricane Harbor.

Sprinkled all over the country, you are sure to find a Hurricane Harbor somewhat nearby where you live. These may be Hurricane Harbor all by itself or both Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor right next to each other. Little is different between the two because in both you will still find the wet and wild fun Hurricane Harbor has to offer. From the hi-tech water rides to the various slides, pools, and river rides, there's no less satisfaction at one or the other.

Hurricane Harbor began taking the nation by storm starting in Arlington, Texas, where the first of these water parks was placed. The 17th of May is both the beginning of Hurricane Harbor's summer season and the launching of the fresh new Mega Wedgie. Tickets sell for $24.99. But for kids less than 48" in height, tickets are only $19.99. Babies under two years old are free. General and preferred parking are available which are $10 and $15.

"California Drenchin" occurs at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Los Angeles. They'll be opening on May 24 for their summer season, only weekends for now. General admission is priced at $29.99 while it's $20.99 for kids (under 48"). Kids under 2 years old get in for free. Save and buy a ticket for both parks (Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor) for just $69.99.

Hurricane Harbor of New Jersey sports what is deemed to be the tri-state area's finest water park. With minimal distance from two other Six Flags destinations: Great Adventure and Wild Safari Animal Park. Hurricane Harbor, N.J. is open to visitors only for the weekends at the moment. But their summer season begins on June 19. Prices for tickets begin at $24.99 (for kids below 54"), and for access to both Hurricane Harbor and Wild Safari Animal Park, combo tickets are available.

Bought as one ticket are admissions to both amusement and water parks at two Six Flags Theme Parks: Great America/Hurricane Harbor outside of Chicago, Illinois, and Six Flags/Hurricane Harbor of St. Louis. Hurricane Harbor of Illinois is its biggest water park, and they're preparing to open May 21 for their summer season, while St. Louis is opening theirs on May 15.

The country's most enormous wave pool is located at Six Flags America in Prince George County, Maryland (just near Baltimore and Washington, D.C.). It is opening for summer in May, 2008.

Hurricane Harbor of Six Flags New England in Springfield, Massachusetts lays claim to two wave pools. From Boston it's just a quick drive and people can douse themselves there for the summer in late May.
